Review: MAKE UP FOR EVER | Ultra HD Foundation Shade #123

I'm so excited to share with y'all my thoughts on the latest and greatest product by MAKE UP FOR EVER, the brand new Ultra HD Foundation!

MUFE Ultra HD Foundation has not been released to the public yet but I was able to purchase one from The Makeup Show! Below is detailed information of the product given to me by PR:

As the original pioneer of the HD makeup category, MAKE UP FOR EVER continues to redefine and elevate beauty standards with the launch of its new ULTRA HD FOUNDATION, the first and only foundation designed for the demands of 4K technology. With 4K technology, the next generation of digital devices will display images with unbelievable detail, stunning clarity, and heightened color than existing HD technology. Completely invisible under the latest, ultra-magnified resolution, these innovative foundation formulas look completely natural on camera – and to the naked eye.

To keep complexions flawless at any resolution, MAKE UP FOR EVER developed ULTRA HD FOUNDATION’s revolutionary 4K Complex. This innovative formula is enhanced with:

• Amino Acid Coated Pigments—reflective particles that blur flaws and provide translucent, invisible coverage

• Hyaluronic Spheres—hydrate and plump the skin for a longer, more comfortable wear
• Sericite—a fine grained mica that adds light reflecting properties to create a radiant and luminous effect, mimicking the vibrancy of naturally beautiful skin

As a result, ULTRA HD FOUNDATION provides complete, silky coverage while staying even more invisible, feeling even more comfortable, and looking even more natural.

The next generation of MAKE UP FOR EVER’s iconic HD Foundation is optimized for the digital lifestyle, offers nearly double the original HD Foundation’s shade range and is available in both liquid and stick formulas. The perfect everyday foundation, ULTRA HD LIQUID FOUNDATION is available in 40 shades and provides medium coverage with a natural finish in a lightweight, oil-free formula. As an alternative to liquid for a flawless complexion and also ideal for touch ups and contouring, ULTRA HD STICK FOUNDATION is offered in 15 shades that blend beautifully onto normal to dry skin.

My Thoughts!

I went to The Makeup Show intending to purchase the regular MUFE HD foundation but when James Vincent introduced the product to the bloggers who attended the preview event, I was intrigued to see what this new innovation is all about!

I'm going to share me putting on the MUFE Ultra HD foundation along with my thoughts in each step-by-step below!

Excuse the messy hair and flyaways, etc.! =X I honestly wasn't planning to take step by step pictures but figured oh why the heck not, lol! The left picture is my before - fresh squeaky clean face!

If you're oily like me, then a makeup primer is going to be your best friend! My current obsession is Dr. Brandt's Pore No More Primer - I have pores that are noticeable in my t-zone. This primer also helps mattify your face!

A BeautyBlender is a huge staple in my beauty tool stash!

I like to pump the foundation onto my hand to help warm up the product for easy application and blending!

Sheer medium coverage
As described in the above, MUFE Ultra HD (and their regular HD foundations) do not provide full coverage but is definitely buildable! I'm fine with the coverage this foundation provides since I don't care for a full thick cake face! In Texas heat, a thick cake face is a huge NO NO!

Left side of my face in the left picture had no foundation on yet.

Before & After

Before & After MUFE Ultra HD

The power of makeup... =D

Day & Night
The day I took these pictures - I applied my makeup on at about 9ish in the morning and didn't take my makeup off til about 9ish at night.

My boys and I went over to my in-laws' house and we had a family BBQ so I was outside for a bit. While at my in-laws' house, my sister-in-law and I were talking about MUFE foundations because she was wearing their Mat Velvet + Mattifying Foundation and I was wearing the Ultra HD

As we were looking at our faces in the mirror, I noticed and pointed out on how I LOVE how the MUFE Ultra HD foundation looks and feels on my face.

The MUFE Ultra HD foundation really mimics the look and feel of my skin! There was no apparent visibility of me wearing foundation because another favorite foundation of mine does make it look too obvious that I'm wearing foundation (you know how you can see and just feel the layer (no matter how less of product you use) on your skin?).

My very last after picture above was me in my bathroom right before I was going to wash off my face and jump in the shower. There's some light shine that peeked through but that's normal after a long day's wear of makeup.

Overall, I really love this foundation! I think it photographs beautifully (just like my regular MUFE HD foundation but BETTER).

I'm sure some of you are thinking - so which is better? HD or Ultra HD? Stay tune my dears because I plan to do a side by side comparison of both on my face at the same time! I'm excited to test and see the outcome.

From the notes I've gathered, I believe that the MUFE Ultra HD foundation is going to be released some time in July. If I can get some more solid info, I'll definitely update y'all about it!

  1. This is such a pretty foundation! I really like how it has such a natural-looking coverage. The only MUFE foundation I have tried is the Matte Velvet+, and it's great -- definitely way more coverage, though. Right now, I'm really into natural-looking skin, so this just looks great!

  2. Hi Lauren! Thank you so much for visiting with me! I'm definitely going to have to check into the MUFE Matte Velvet foundation! I think you will REALLY love the Ultra HD! I've done the comparisons a few times between HD and Ultra HD and Ultra HD is definitely my most favorite now! I can't wait to share with you how it went with that soon! xo

  4. Aw thank you love! Well I'm right with you about getting the 'perfect' shade from MUFE because I'm tossed up in between 120 and 123. Honestly right now, 123 is still a tad too warm for me and I've been slacking on tanning so you can see the difference between my face and neck to chest lolllll. I should have picked up 120 too so I can mix them together =X I appreciate your sweet sweet words my dearest! xoxoxo
